About Us

VegFest Calgary is a non-profit, grassroots organization and 100% fueled by its incredible volunteers and organizers. VFC was conceived in April of 2016 by 8 individuals who felt compelled to unite the culture of compassion that was already radiating in our city.

VegFest Calgary is unique among other vegan festivals in that we take a strictly pro-intersectional approach, in which we advocate against all oppression. We do not tolerate racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or hate of any kind.

OUR MISSION

To strengthen the growing pro-intersectional vegan movement in our city. Through creating accessible and education-focused events, we aim to support local businesses, enhance our community, and empower individuals to make meaningful changes that will benefit our health, planet and the animals we share it with.

OUR VISION

We want to establish VegFest Calgary as a pillar of our city’s culture and to be leaders in the movement towards a just future for all.

WE ARE PRO-INTERSECTIONAL

VegFest Calgary is unique among other vegan festivals in that we take a strictly pro-intersectional approach, in which we advocate against all oppression. We do not tolerate racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or hate of any kind.

A Message From The Board

To our sponsors, patrons, friends, vendors, volunteers, and community partners- thank you for helping us to do this important work. In a city that prides itself on the perpetuation of Western and meat-centric attitudes, we are so grateful for the supportive community that allowed VegFest to shatter stereotypes about what veganism is and can be. Nearly three years ago, a group of 8 innovators came together with a dream to re-imagine how vegan culture is expressed and celebrated in this city.

We envisioned a day where we could eat freely and without concern, where we could rejuvenate our passion for helping those with less power than us, and where we could strengthen our friendships within a rapidly growing vegan community. We aspired to create something tangible that would bring attention to an urgent global need for social, environmental, and food justice.

VegFest represents the cultivation of these goals. With two Annual VegFest's under our belt and three Holiday Markets, we are motivated and excited to continue collaborating with our community to enact meaningful change.
